Are You Expecting?
We are excited that you are considering our practice for your baby’s care. We have been involved in newborn care for many years and we strive for “quality care” – both medically and personally. We feel that a real asset of a smaller practice is more personalized, individualized care. We are strong advocates for breast feeding but understand that no family or baby are alike and we ultimately want to support you in making the right decisions that are best for you and your baby.
We strongly encourage new parents to meet us and attend a complimentary prenatal meet and greet. We offer monthly prenatal evenings run by Dr. James Lee that include a presentation reviewing both your upcoming delivery experience and follow up care with our office as well as time for questions and a tour of the office. Additionally, we are available at other times to meet you on an individual basis. Please call our office for more details.
As part of our mission to offer the best quality newborn care, we are proud to offer outstanding lactation support. We have lactation counselors and are building a dedicated lactation office to assist nursing moms at whatever level of help is needed. This support works cohesively with our medical care, optimizing patient care and time.
We also encourage families as they experience the trials and tribulations of parenthood by offering parent support groups run by our staff on a regular basis to answer common problems and concerns.
Many new parents have questions about vaccines. Please be aware that we support and view childhood vaccines as a cornerstone of preventative, comprehensive care and encourage you to review our vaccine policy statement and view the CDC’s recommended vaccine schedule. We want our kids to be born healthy and stay healthy!
Both Dr. Lee and Dr. Burns have privileges at Frederick Memorial Hospital (FMH) and will see your baby there if that is your delivery hospital. Our office will be notified at the time of your delivery by the hospital. If you are delivering outside of Frederick, please call us as soon as possible with the big news! We generally like to see newborns within 2 – 3 days of discharge.
Our practice participates with most insurance plans including several state Medicaid insurances. Please contact our office to make sure about proper enrollment and participation with us.
For further education and information, we encourage the American Academy of Pediatrics parent website: www.HealthyChildren.org. Their Ages & Stages section is dedicated to prenatal and baby care topics . The AAP’s Your Baby’s First Year is a great reference book to have on hand too.
Good luck with your arrival! We hope we can be an instrumental part of your newborn experience and that you will become a new member of our FredCo family!
